How to use this test

1
Prepare the test materials

Allow the test cassette, specimen, and controls to reach room temperature (15-30°C) before starting.

Ensure the donor has not consumed food, drink, gum, or tobacco products for at least 10 minutes prior to collection.

2
Collect the sample

Remove the collector from the sealed pouch. Insert the sponge end into the mouth, swab around the gums and under the tongue, and chew the sponge gently.

Place the sponge under the tongue for 2-3 minutes until fully saturated. Press the sponge against the teeth to help saturation, ensuring no hard spots remain.

3
Transfer the sample

Take the collection chamber out of the sealed pouch and unscrew it. Remove the saturated collector from the mouth and place it into the collection chamber.

Press the sponge fully against the strainer to release the oral fluid to the arrow point level. Screw the cap back on lightly, shake the chamber gently for 10 seconds, and then leave it for 10 minutes.

4
Prepare the test

Remove the test cassette from its sealed pouch and place it on a clean, level surface.

Shake the collection chamber gently again for 10 seconds, snap the tip open, invert it, and transfer 3 drops of the oral fluid sample into the specimen well (S) of the test cassette. Start the timer.

5
Read the results

Wait for the colored line(s) to appear. Read the results at 5 minutes, but do not read results after 15 minutes.

For the alcohol strip, read the results between 3-5 minutes.

Compare the colour of the reaction pad with the provided colour chart to determine the relative alcohol level.

6
Abnormal or invalid result

Negative:A coloured line appears in the Control region (C) and the Test region (T).
Positive:A coloured line appears in the Control region (C) but not in the Test region (T).
Invalid:No coloured line appears in the Control region (C). Repeat the test with a new kit.

How long after use can each drug be detected?

The detection window for each drug reflects how long it can typically be identified in urine after use. This window varies by drug and can be influenced by factors like frequency of use and individual metabolism. Here’s the approximate detection range for each:

Amphetamines (AMP) – 2-6 days
Usually traceable in urine for up to 6 days after use, depending on dosage and metabolism.

Benzodiazepines (BZO) – 2-14 days
Detection varies widely based on the type and frequency of use, remaining traceable for up to two weeks.

Buprenorphine (BUP) – 3-6 days
This opioid replacement therapy drug can be detected for up to 6 days after use.

Cocaine (COC) – 2-5 days
Cocaine typically remains detectable in urine for up to 5 days.

Ketamine (KET) – 2-5 days
Usually detectable for up to 5 days after use.

Methadone (MTD) – 2-4 days
Methadone can be detected for up to 4 days in urine, often used for monitoring in treatment programs.

Methamphetamine (MET) – 2-6 days

Morphine (MOP) – 2-5 days
This opioid remains traceable in urine for up to 5 days.

Opiates (OPI) – 2-5 days
Opiates like heroin and codeine are typically detectable within a 2-5 day period.

THC - Cannabis (THC) – Up to 30 days
Cannabis can remain detectable for up to a month in regular users, with a shorter window for occasional users.

What should I do if the test result is positive?

If your Rapid Urine Drug Test result is positive, this means that one or more substances have been detected in your system. Start by double-checking that you followed the test instructions carefully. Any deviation from the instructions could affect accuracy, so if you have concerns, consider retaking the test with a new kit to confirm the result.

For important situations, such as workplace testing or legal matters, it’s best to confirm the positive result with a lab-based test. Lab testing offers a more precise, quantifiable analysis, which can help validate the findings of your at-home test.

If the result is unexpected or concerning, consult a healthcare provider. They can offer guidance on potential causes, health implications, and any next steps you might want to consider.

Can any medications affect the test results?

Yes, certain medications can impact the results of a Rapid Urine Drug Test.

Some prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and even herbal supplements contain compounds that may trigger a false positive by mimicking the tested substances.

For instance, cold medications, certain antidepressants, or pain relievers might influence the outcome.

If you’re taking any medications, it’s a good idea to review these beforehand and, if necessary, confirm your results with a lab test for more accuracy.

How is this test compliant with workplace drug testing guidelines?

Our Rapid Urine Drug Test Kit for 10 Common Drugs aligns with UK workplace drug testing guidelines by offering a reliable and efficient method for detecting multiple substances.

It adheres to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommendations, which emphasise the importance of employee consent and the necessity of testing as part of a broader health and safety policy.

Additionally, the test complies with the European Workplace Drug Testing Society (EWDTS) standards, ensuring accuracy and reliability in workplace settings.

By meeting these standards, this test provides a dependable solution for workplace drug testing needs.

How does this test compare to lab-based drug testing?

The Rapid Urine Drug Test Kit for 10 Common Drugs offers a fast and convenient way to detect recent drug use, suitable for initial screenings at home or in the workplace. While highly accurate for identifying the presence of substances, this at-home test focuses on detecting recent use and provides results quickly.

Lab-based drug testing, on the other hand, offers more detailed analysis, often with precise quantification, and is generally required for confirmatory testing in legal or formal settings. Lab tests also have a longer detection window and are typically used for definitive results when accuracy is paramount.

For routine or preliminary screenings, this kit provides a reliable, accessible option, while lab testing remains the gold standard for comprehensive and confirmatory purposes.

What’s the best way to collect a urine sample for accuracy?

For the most accurate results, collect the urine sample in a clean, dry container to prevent contamination.

It's best to use a fresh midstream sample: start urinating, pause briefly, then collect the sample midway through the flow. This method reduces the chance of contaminants affecting the results.

Always follow any specific instructions provided in the test kit, as proper collection is key to ensuring the accuracy of your results.

Is this test single-use, or can it be reused?

The Rapid Urine Drug Test Kit for 10 Common Drugs is designed for single-use only.

Each test is intended to be used once to ensure accuracy and reliability. Reusing the test is not recommended, as it may compromise the results. For each new screening, a new test kit should be used.
