About this test

Brand we're currently stocking: PRIMA

Allergies can often go undiagnosed, with symptoms like sneezing, skin irritation, watery eyes or congestion dismissed as everyday discomfort. This test checks for elevated levels of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) — a key marker your body produces in response to allergens.

Using a simple finger-prick blood sample, this rapid test helps you understand whether your immune system may be reacting to allergens. While it doesn’t identify specific triggers, it can highlight the need for further testing or specialist advice.

Whether you’re managing seasonal allergies, food sensitivities or unexplained symptoms, this easy-to-use kit gives you quick results from the privacy of home. If your IgE levels are high, it could suggest your symptoms are allergy-related, helping you take the next step towards diagnosis and treatment.

An ideal first step for anyone looking to better understand their immune response and take control of their allergy health.

How to use this test

1
Prepare for the test

Before starting the test, bring the pouch with the test cassette to room temperature. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely. Now, open the pouch and take out the test cassette.

2
Prepare the lancet

Twist and remove the plastic cap from the sterile lancet - be careful not to fire it too soon! For best results use your middle finger for taking the sample. Clean your fingertip with the cleansing gauze and let it air dry.

3
Collect the blood sample

Press the lancet firmly against your fingertip to draw a drop of blood. Gently massage your finger downward to encourage blood flow.

Now, take the capillary pipette and let it automatically absorb the blood- no need to squeeze. Fill it to the black line, avoiding air bubbles.

4
Transfer the sample

Squeeze the pipette bulb to release the blood sample into the ‘S’ on the test cassette. Wait for the blood sample to be fully absorbed into the cassette before moving on to the next step.

5
Add the diluent and wait

Open the diluent vial with the dropper and carefully add 2 drops into the ‘S’. Now, wait 5 minutes for the test to process- don’t read the results before then! Make sure you have waited exactly 5 minutes as waiting longer may invalidate your results.

If no line appears at ‘C’ even if there is a line at ‘T’ you have not performed the test correctly. Please repeat the test ensuring you follow all instructions carefully.

6
Read and interpret your results

If two lines appear—one at C (Control) and one at T (Test). This indicates higher-than-normal IgE levels, suggesting your immune system may be reacting to allergens. Consider consulting a specialist for further evaluation.

If a single line appears at C (Control), with no line at T (Test). This means your IgE levels are within the normal range (below 100 IU/mL), making an allergic reaction unlikely based on this test.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this test recommended for?

This test is ideal for anyone experiencing allergic symptoms such as itchy or irritated skin, watering or burning eyes, frequent sneezing, nasal congestion or breathing discomfort.

It is also a great option if you suspect you have allergies and want to check your IgE levels before consulting your doctor.

Do I need to send my sample to a lab?

No, this is a self-test that provides instant results at home within 5 minutes. There is no need to send your sample to a laboratory.

How accurate are the results of this test?

This is a clinically validated test with a high overall accuracy of 92.6%. It delivers highly reliable results, but it’s meant solely for screening purposes. If the results are positive, we recommend consulting a doctor for further evaluation.

How exactly does this test work?

This test detects Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in your blood—an important marker of allergic reactions. When your body encounters an allergen, IgE levels can rise, triggering symptoms like itching, sneezing, or watery eyes.

Using a small finger-prick blood sample, the test applies an immunochromatographic process. This means that if your IgE levels are elevated (above 100 IU/mL), they bind to special antibodies on the test strip, creating a visible result.

After 5 minutes, your test result will appear, giving you a clear indication of whether your IgE levels are higher than normal. If your test is positive, you may be experiencing an allergic response, and it’s a good idea to consult a doctor to explore possible triggers.

When can I take this test?

This test can be performed at any time of the day. However, if you’re currently taking allergy medication, such as antihistamines or steroids, speak with a doctor before testing, as they may affect your IgE levels.

How do I interpret the test if the colour and intensity of the bands are different?

The colour intensity of the test and control bands does not affect the interpretation of the result. As long as both bands are visible and clear, the test is valid. A positive result is valid regardless of how dark or light the test band appears.

Can this test determine which specific allergens I am allergic to?

No, this test only detects elevated IgE levels, which indicate a possible allergic reaction. It does not identify specific allergens. If your IgE levels are high, consult a doctor for a full allergy panel or specific allergen testing.

What should I do if my result is positive?

A positive result means that your IgE levels are higher than normal, suggesting a possible allergic reaction. You should definitely consult a healthcare professional for further testing and get a complete allergy profile.

What should I do if my result is negative?

A negative result means that IgE levels are within the normal range (below 100 IU/mL). However, if you continue to experience allergy symptoms, consult a doctor for further testing. Some allergies may not cause a rise in IgE levels or may require different types of tests for diagnosis.

Can medications affect my test results?

Yes, certain medications may influence the test outcome, including Antihistamines which may lower the IgE levels temporarily. Steroids or immunosuppressants can also affect your body’s immune responses. If you are taking any allergy-related medications, consult a doctor before performing the test.
