Drug Testing FAQs

How long can drugs be detected in urine?

Urine tests can detect many drugs for a few days after use, while some substances remain detectable for weeks. There is no fixed number of days: the substance, pattern of use and test cut-off all affect the result.

Approximate urine detection times

Approximate windows after last use include: cocaine metabolites (breakdown products), 1 to 3 days; amphetamine, 1 to 7 days; and morphine, 1 to 3 days.

Cannabis metabolites may remain detectable for around 3 days after a single use, or 30 days or longer after heavy, prolonged use. Benzodiazepine detection ranges from days to weeks, depending on the medicine and use.

Why do urine detection times vary?

Repeated use can extend detection as drugs or their breakdown products build up. Metabolism, kidney function and urine concentration also affect how long a test remains positive.

A cut-off is the concentration needed to trigger a positive result. Kits and laboratories can use different thresholds, so a drug detection times chart offers estimates rather than an individual prediction.

Can I pass a drug test in three weeks?

You cannot rely on three weeks to guarantee a negative result. Cannabis metabolites are among the longest-lasting targets on common urine panels and may still trigger a positive after that time.

A urine screen cannot show current impairment or the exact time of use. Arrange laboratory confirmation of unexpected or non-negative screening results before making health or employment decisions.

Choosing a urine drug test?

Start with the substance you need to check.

Compare Rezure’s urine drug testing kits by the substances covered and their intended use. A kit only screens for its listed targets, so check the panel before you order.
